Ping

Ping is a wonderful, curious, playful, young boy. He has a gorgeous brindle coat with a hint of orange in between his tiger-like stripes. Ping does has a lot of energy, but after a walk he does settle down and will even fall asleep on top of you! Ping loves people, gives kisses freely and is a velcro dog. Whoever is lucky enough to adopt this boy will have a loyal companion for life.

Hook

This little boy is just under 1 1/2 years old. With big, expressive eyes, he takes in the whole world around him but is very apprehensive about new people and surroundings.

Hook would do best in a home with a fenced in yard and another confident dog. His adopter would need to be patient and understanding and having experience with other shy greyhounds would be ideal.

Since he is shy, we wouldn't place him in a house with small children. Hook does get along with other dogs that are calm yet playful.

Little Joe

Little Joe is a greyhound/lab mix and is a little older than 3 years old. He is extremely silly and loves soft plushy toys to toss in the air or play tug-of-war with. He is all boy, as he loves to run around, jump and play and play some more. Although he didn’t get much socializing with other dogs or people in his early years in Kentucky, he certainly has realized how much fun it is to run around and play with other dogs and to trust people and allow them to take him out for walks. He is shy at first, but with just a little time and patience he will earn your trust and he will happily let you leash him up for a walk. He would do best with another confident dog to show him the ropes and learn how to be a happy and secure dog.

Kimie

Kimie is a beautiful 6 year old greyhound. She is a bit shy at first but comes around once you spend some time with her! Kimie enjoys playing with other greyhounds and going for walks. She equally enjoys just "hanging out" in her bed.

Sox

Sox has little white “socks” on all four of her feet. This 2 year old girl is timid at first, but after a short time she warms up and walks with a happy spring in her step. Come down to meet this little girl and after some time she will be happy to walk on a leash to slowly start to investigate the world all around her. Bring a playful pooch with you and she will be even more animated!

Frank

Frank is a big, strong 2 year old boy. He is very happy and practically smiles when he is out for a walk. Frank's idea of a perfect day would be to go on a 4 mile run with his volunteer friends followed by a dip in the river; leaving the rest of his day to catch up on beauty sleep! His tail, which looks as if it was dipped in white paint, is constantly wagging. Very sweet boy that likes to be around other greyhounds and people. Come meet this boy and take him out for a run in our fenced in yard.

Adopted Paula

Meet Paula! This gorgeous 2 year old girl has joined us from Ireland! She is a bit shy but that is very understandable due to her long journey! Our staff members can often be found in her kennel cuddling with her. Paula will warm up to her humans very quickly and loves treats and kisses!

Basil

Basil turned 8 years old this past February. She is a happy girl with lots of energy and spunk. As the racer, Bella Basil, she raced over 50 races, winning 46% and also had 30 puppies. She has a great personality and literally smiles when you talk to her! This girl wastes no time, if she is even a little warm she will hop right into a kiddie pool!

Steve

Meet Steve! This gorgeous 3.5 year old boy is nothing but fun. He is very spunky and loves to be outside. He will look at you with his gorgeous eyes making it impossible to tell him "no" to a walk! This boy is the perfect balance of playful and cuddly. He loves to play with toys but is also happy just hanging out.

Maleficent

Maleficent is nothing like her Disney namesake. This 2 year old girl is very sweet and you will absolutely fall in love with her when you meet her. She can be a little timid, but she does like to meet people that come her way and does like to be around other dogs.

She was returned to the shelter because her former owner said she had separation anxiety. We recommend a home that has someone that works out of the house or isn't away that long...I mean really...who wants to be left alone too long?!

She would certainly make a very good companion for a family with older children. The hustle and bustle of the younger kids can be a bit frightening for such a sweet, gentle girl.

Wendy

This cute girl is named Wendy! Wendy is 3.5 years old. She is so kissy and friendly. Her tail is always in motion, as she is just a ball of happiness. She gets along well with other dogs. Wendy loves to be involved in all that is going on in her little world! This girl just wants to have fun!

Rock

Meet Rock! This cute boy is 1.5 years old. One on one, he is a very calm but happy boy. If you pair him with another dog, he turns into a silly, playful pooch! He even loves giving kisses to other dogs and humans!

Rapid

Rapid is a tall handsome fellow that is 1.5 years old. Although he may seem a little shy at first, it is easy to tell that he wants love. He enjoys being around other dogs and is very mellow. He has the most gorgeous, soulful eyes! Come meet Rapid and he will rapidly steal your heart in minutes!

Rita

This stunning girl is two years old that raced in West Virginia. Rita has a playful spirit that is very contagious and will put a smile on your face. She is interested in the toys and when she hears a squeaker, she gets so happy. Rita is so friendly and outgoing. Her tail is always moving and she loves to give kisses and love!

Dopey

Although Dopey is 4.5, he is a puppy at heart! This big stunner ran over 150 races in West Virginia and placed in about half of them! Dopey is so friendly and energetic! He even smiles when he is excited to see you! Sometimes he gets so excited and wiggly it is hard to get him to stand still! Dopey is very curious about what is going on around him and loves to poke around with his nose.

Lefty

This sweet boy is 1.5 years old. He is a bit cautious around humans at first but then calmly comes over, looking for love. He does well with other greyhounds, even ones that can be a little overwhelming at times. This boy is truly just looking for a place to retire and enjoy the rest of his life!

Razor is five years old. He is a lurcher - a greyhound cross. Razor came with several other dogs from Ohio. Volunteers with the American Lurcher Project made Razor's trip here possible.

He is outgoing, likes people, does well with other greyhounds and enjoys walks and attention. We don't know about cats yet.

Ronnie is a greyhound cross. He came with the group of dogs that the American Lurcher Project volunteers brought to GHFs recently.

Ronnie is 4 years old. He is interested in people. Ronnie may not have had a great deal of socialization but he responds to affection and attention.

Ronnie has a lot to offer a family. He is receptive to new people and seems as though he would gratefully settle into a new home.

Striker is five years old. He is laid back, accommodating, and use to doing what people ask him to do. He worked - raced - for a relatively long time and would do well in a low key, comfortable household. He has earned his retirement and would love to go for walks and hang out.

Star man is a new arrival. He is three years old and is quiet, well mannered and easy going. Star man has been neutered and is up to date on his vet work. He will bond with his adopter quickly and responds to direction.

Cannonball is five years old. He is from the American Lurcher Project. He is lively, sweet, likes people, likes to go for walks and would not do well with cats. He is smart and responds well to affection and direction. He loves to play catch and is a good companion.

Minnie is two years old. She loves to visit with people. She is attentive to people who take her for walks. Minnie is a young greyhound who learns quickly. She is sweet and will be a good companion.

Brad is from the American Lurcher Project. He is four years old and has worked hard all his short life. He would benefit from a kind adopter who has a fenced yard. Brad is a quiet, gentle dog who will do well in the right home.

Jenna is from the American Lurcher Project. She has been adopted and is doing really well.

Frankie is 5 years old and a raelly beautiful dog, friendly with people an good with other dogs. Likes a schedule so would fit in with a working family.

She is aout 6 years old. A little timid but has become a lot more outgoing. Good natured dog looking for family in a quitier environment.

She is 3 yrs old, very shy and would do best with a quiet family that has a fenced yard. Would do well with another dog who could show her the ropes.

Is 9 years old. He is good natured and calm and very accommodating. He would be a good walking companion. Not sure how he will be with cats. A beautiful older boy!

He is a young, energetic, friendly and outgoing greyhound. He will do well with people wanting to be active with him.

She is 6 years old and is initially withdrawn and quite but comes around in time. She needs a home that is calm and attentive to her sensitivity.

Is 2 years old and is extraverted, social and seems like he would be a good family dog. He is a friendly dog interested in pleasing people. Needs direction but very willing to learn.

Is 2 years old a bit shy but friendly with people he knows. He will do well in a home with a self-confident dog and a good fence.
