Improving the lives of greyhounds, lurchers & mixed hounds one dog at a time
Volunteers are essential to the success of Greyhound Friends.
Kennel Volunteers work closely with our staff members to provide a clean, safe environment for our dogs. Below describes some of the tasks that the kennel volunteers help with:
- Cleaning out dog kennels
- Cleaning out turn out pens
- Washing kennel floors
- Sweeping floors
- Washing food & water bowls
- Helping with laundry
- Walking dogs
We do require our volunteers to be 16 years or older to help volunteer in the kennel.

Olive oil – we put some in the dogs’ food; it helps their skin

Office supplies – copy paper, envelopes, paper, pens, scotch tape, etc.

Mailing envelopes – especially large ones

Bird seed for our large flock of various hungry birds
For those under the age of 16 and still interested in helping out the dogs:
- You could have a blanket drive at your school, community group, church or local library.
- Make a no-sew fleece blanket
- Have a collection drive to purchase items on our wish list
- Host a fundraising event with all proceeds being donated to the shelter.
- Stop in for posters and ask different businesses if you can hang them up.
