Improving the lives of greyhounds, lurchers & mixed hounds one dog at a time

Volunteers are essential to the success of Greyhound Friends.

Kennel Volunteers work closely with our staff members to provide a clean, safe environment for our dogs.  Below describes some of the tasks that the kennel volunteers help with:
- Cleaning out dog kennels
- Cleaning out turn out pens
- Washing kennel floors
- Sweeping floors
- Washing food & water bowls
- Helping with laundry
- Walking dogs

We do require our volunteers to be 16 years or older to help volunteer in the kennel.

We are always in need of gently used  blankets/comforters/sheets/towels & carpets

Needed Cleaning Products:
paper towels
liquid dish soap
laundry detergent

Dog food/dog supplies
Dog and/or canned food –     Iams, Eukanauba, and         Pro Plan
Vet supplies
Flea and tick shampoo
Olive oil – we put some in the     dogs’ food; it helps their skin

Mailing envelopes – especially     large ones

For those under the age of 16 and still interested in helping out the dogs:

  • You could have a blanket drive at your school, community group, church or local library.
  • Make a no-sew fleece blanket

  • Have a collection drive to purchase items on our wish list
  • Host a fundraising event with all proceeds being donated to the shelter.
  • Stop in for posters and ask different businesses if you can hang them up.
